WHO IS LA ROUX ?

La Roux's desire to turn back the clock to the 1980s where the music was experimental, the clothes were crazy and the attitude was defiant is certainly ambitious, but this determined electro-pop synth duo are marking an impressive mark on the disco-hungry UK music scene.
La Roux are made up with the ‘synth vixen from Brixton' Elly Jackson and co-writer, co-producer Ben Langmaid. This match made in synth heaven were formed through their well connected friends, (Faithless's genius Rollo Armstrong being one) who saw the potential in these two 80s-obsessed individuals. Their overwhelming desire to produce big, epic and exciting 80s inspired pop is apparent in every beat of their music and every inch of Jackson's style and attitude. Her creative, outlandish and truly individual look screams Grace Jones, Annie Lennox and David Bowie. La Roux's second single In for the Kill peaked at No 2 in the UK charts and third release Bulletproof went one better, only being knocked off the top by Jacko's untimely death.
Being hailed as the Best New Act of 2009 combined with the superb reviews of their live shows; La Roux's future looks set up. The days of guitar music dominating the charts are over apparently, as Jackson confidently declared that "it's definitely time for some serious synth action."
